THE UPPER ROOM DEVOTIONAL 31ST OCTOBER 2025, FRIDAY MESSAGE
Enjoy the Journey

Today’s Reading
Romans 5:1-5
We also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. – Romans 5:3-4 (NIV)
When I was a young child, I had no concept of time. On car trips I would often ask my parents, “Are we there yet?” It didn’t matter if we were going down the street or a place far away. I was so excited to get to the destination that I didn’t take the time to enjoy the journey.
We often ask God the same question: Are we there yet? We want to know when we will get to the destination we desire. The journey can seem long. Sometimes it’s boring. Sometimes it’s difficult. Sometimes it’s worrisome. And sometimes it’s painful. However, it’s in the process of the journey that God shapes our character. Each day is a gift from God in which we can commune with our Creator and discover our God-given purpose.
Sometimes it’s difficult to keep going, but God builds us up and strengthens us along the way. We don’t need to rush the process. We can trust God’s timing and appreciate each step of the journey.
Thought for the Day
I will trust in God’s timing and celebrate each step of my journey.
Prayer Focus
