DCLM Daily Manna – 22 September 2025 MESSAGE:
The classical definition of multitasking is “prioritising and organising your work to balance multiple tasks simultaneously.” Human resources experts claim that an employee has greater chances of rapid promotion and remuneration if, as they make tea, they can simultaneously talk to a client while taking notes on the conversation. This way, the organisation would not need to take on additional hands; thus, enabling the company to save costs.
The ministerial burden of Apostle Paul, which meant laborious multitasking activities, including travelling long distances over land and sea, predated the workplace demands of today’s professionals. While Paul saw to the “daily… care of all the churches,” he also took his time to watch over the flock put in his custody, even as he wrote letters to the churches to impart spiritual gifts to the leaders and members. His epistles reveal the information he gathered about the Corinthian believers as he attended to these duties.
Paul was able to learn through these multitasking efforts that the Corinthians were “behind in no gift; (while) waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ”. The servants of God were pleased with their spiritual state, which attracted them more to heaven’s goodness. The world’s people will go the extra mile for temporary rewards. Still, Paul toiled for the benefit of the body of Christ as he looked forward to the riches of eternal life.
Working for the Lord is more demanding than secular undertakings. It calls for more skills in the prudent management of resources for the expansion of the kingdom of Christ. It requires maximising our time and talents for soul-winning, giving no room for idleness or slothful disposition. Our attitude should be that of the servant who is expecting the sudden arrival of his Lord to ask for an account of his stewardship.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: When you multitask for Christ, you multiply the harvest of souls for His kingdom.
