BIBLE VERSE
Is anything too difficult for the LORD? At the appointed time I will return to you—in about a year—and Sarah will have a son. — Gen 18:14
Oh, Lord GOD! You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too difficult for You! — Jer 32:17
There is no doubt about the identity of the three guests who suddenly appeared at Abraham’s tent. We are told explicitly that “Jehovah appeared to him.” This was one of the ways in which our Lord foreshadowed His Incarnation. He came incognito, delighting to be with the sons of men (Prov 8:31). During His earthly life, He loved the homes of men, staying with Peter and Zacchaeus, and finding rest in the home where Mary loved and Martha served. After His resurrection, He walked with two disciples and stayed with them at the village inn. Likewise, He will come to our hearts, asking to dine with us and we with Him (Rev 3:20). But He often comes disguised, as a traveler in need of food and drink. Let us “run to meet Him,” remembering His words in Matthew 25:40.
God is no one’s debtor. He always repays the hospitality He receives, as seen in His promise to Sarah. She laughed in disbelief, but is anything too hard for the Lord? That question has echoed through the ages. Let us turn away from natural limitations and look to the One who holds the oceans in His hand. Only then can we stand with Him on the mountainside, interceding for Sodom and pleading for the salvation of souls. When our faith falters, He will answer beyond all we can ask or think.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
Now unto Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.
