SCRIPTURE READING: John 5: 1-12 (KJV)
1 After this there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
2 Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches.
3 In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.
4 For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.
5 And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.
6 When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?
7 The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.
8 Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.
9 And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.
10 The Jews therefore said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath day: it is not lawful for thee to carry thy bed.
11 He answered them, He that made me whole, the same said unto me, Take up thy bed, and walk.
12 Then asked they him, What man is that which said unto thee, Take up thy bed, and walk?
FOCUS VERSE:

Streams of Joy Saturday August 2, 2025 Devotional – MESSAGE
Our Focal Scripture makes mention of how Jesus saw the man at the pool of Bethesda. That man was stuck at the pool, down with an infirmity that had lasted thirty-eight years, ever attempting to get healed but never getting healed, with no man to even help him get into the pool when the angel that stirred the waters showed up, but Jesus saw him. He didn’t even call for Jesus, but Jesus saw his situation and came for him. El Roi saw him.
Friend, you may be surrounded by situations that have made you shed bitter tears, but be rest assured that El Roi sees you. El Roi sees the conspiracies of those who are plotting against you. El Roi sees where the odds are not in your favour; He sees where you are unable to help yourself; He sees where you are disadvantaged; He sees where you are without the help needed for transition; He sees you even in your pool of Bethesda.
When Jesus saw that man at the pool, He didn’t leave him in the same state in which He met him. Jesus saw the man and healed him. Jesus saw the man and changed his story instantly. Jesus saw the man and did for him what he had been struggling to achieve for thirty-eight years. Hear me as I hear the Lord: the eyes of El Roi are turned in your direction to bring change. El Roi sees to demonstrate His power; He sees to turn things around.
Get set: concerning everything that has brought you bitter tears in time past, El Roi has seen and El Roi has made an utter end. Where you cried in time past, El Roi has seen and El Roi will act. Where you have endured negative reports from the experts, El Roi has seen and El Roi will act. Where you have been battered and conspired against, El Roi has seen and El Roi will act. The eyes of the Lord are turned in your direction for good.
Welcome to that season where the eyes of El Roi will be turned in your direction. Welcome to that season where El Roi sees to change and to demonstrate His power.
Psalm 34: 15 says: “The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.”
DECLARATION: El Roi sees me; He sees to change my situation for good, in Jesus’ name!
