FIRE SCRIPTURE:Β 1 Samuel 17:44-54 (NIV)
44Β βCome here,β he said, βand Iβll give your flesh to the birdsΒ and the wild animals!β
45Β David said to the Philistine, βYou come against me with sword and spear and javelin,Β but I come against you in the nameΒ of theΒ LordΒ Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.Β 46Β This day theΒ LordΒ will deliverΒ you into my hands, and Iβll strike you down and cut off your head. This very day I will give the carcassesΒ of the Philistine army to the birds and the wild animals, and the whole worldΒ will know that there is a God in Israel.Β 47Β All those gathered here will know that it is not by swordΒ or spear that theΒ LordΒ saves;Β for the battleΒ is theΒ Lordβs, and he will give all of you into our hands.β
48Β As the Philistine moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him.Β 49Β Reaching into his bag and taking out a stone, he slung it and struck the Philistine on the forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell facedown on the ground.
50Β So David triumphed over the Philistine with a slingΒ and a stone; without a sword in his hand he struck down the Philistine and killed him.
51Β David ran and stood over him. He took hold of the Philistineβs sword and drew it from the sheath. After he killed him, he cutΒ off his head with the sword.
When the Philistines saw that their hero was dead, they turned and ran.Β 52Β Then the men of Israel and Judah surged forward with a shout and pursued the Philistines to the entrance of Gath[a]Β and to the gates of Ekron.Β Their dead were strewn along the ShaaraimΒ road to Gath and Ekron.Β 53Β When the Israelites returned from chasing the Philistines, they plundered their camp.
54Β David took the Philistineβs head and brought it to Jerusalem; he put the Philistineβs weapons in his own tent.
MFM Daily Devotional for 25th July 2025, MESSAGE:
Faith is an indispensable companion in the journey of every believer. The Bible affirms that without faith it is impossible to please God and work successfully with Him.
There are different kinds of faith, but the faith God expects His children to demonstrate must be strong, unwavering, persistent and child-like. These are the kinds of faith that can receive great things from the Lord.
Beloved, we are in the last days and perilous times are here. You need faith to navigate and surmount life challenges, which can sometimes be overwhelming. By faith, Abraham became God’s friend and purpose partner, Noah built the ark and saved the remnants, Moses led Israel out of Egypt and parted the Red Sea, Elijah defeated the prophets of Baal and turned the hearts of Israel back to God. Faith was the driving force that gave the apostles huge success in the New Testament. More so, faith gave David victory over Goliath, the Philistine giant, and brought honour to the God of Israel.
Dear reader, you need Giant-killing faith today. David’s courageous trust in God made him not to consider his own age, experience and stature as against Goliath’s. Rather, he focused on the greatness and unfailing ability of His God. Also, he rejected armour and sword; with his sling and five stones he defeated Goliath. He said to Goliath, “Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied” (1 Samuel 17:45).
Faith in God can overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles. Conquer fear and enemies in your life with courage and trust in God. Are there “giants” threatening and troubling your life today? You must confront and conquer them in the name of the Lord. You can defeat “giants” like poverty, barrenness, unemployment, career and business challenges, health problems, indebtedness, marital delay and turbulence, parental challenges, stagnancy, disfavour, shame, ministerial challenges, etc. All you need to do is to accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior, and confront your enemies in His wonder-working name. Faith in Christ Jesus will grant you unchallengeable victory.

1. My Father, give me giant-killing faith after the order of David, in the name of Jesus.
2. Visible and invisible giants threatening and attacking my life, I overcome you by the blood of Jesus, in the name of Jesus.
3. I receive the faith that overcomes all obstacles, in the name of Jesus.

4. Father, increase my faith, in the name of Jesus.
5. Father, help me trust in Your power, not my limitations, in the name of Jesus.
6. Father, grant me victory over the “giants” in my life, in the name of Jesus.
