Daily Bible Verse for Today 24 June 2025 – The Basis Of Peace
Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, — Rom 5:1
and through Him to reconcile to Himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through the blood of His cross. — Col 1:20
The foundation of redemption and peace was laid on Calvary when our Lord died for the sins of the world. In Leviticus 17:11, we learn that “the life, or soul, of the flesh is in the blood,” meaning that the shedding of Christ’s blood was the pouring out of His soul as a sacrifice for sin.
You might ask, “How does Christ’s sacrifice on the cross bring about peace?” While the full answer may be beyond our current understanding, we know it’s one of the mysteries that belong to God and will be fully revealed in eternity.
But do not think that Christ’s death was required to make God love us, to appease His anger, or to compel Him to redeem us. “God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself.” The Father did not love us because Jesus died; rather, Jesus went to the cross because of the Father’s love for us. God chose us to be joint-heirs with His Son.
However, there is one condition we must meet. Peace is only available to those who believe. We are justified by faith and have peace with God through believing. The Apostle says that “through our Lord Jesus Christ, we have now received the atonement” (Colossians 1:11). Redemption is already accomplished; we just need to receive it. The atonement for peace is made, and all we must do is accept it. Just as sin once reigned unto death, grace now reigns through righteousness, bringing eternal life through Jesus Christ. By receiving eternal life and the Holy Spirit with open, thankful hearts, relying on God’s promises through faith, we enter into the great inheritance of peace.

O Most Merciful Lord, grant that I may rest in You above all things. In You, my heart finds peace; apart from You, all is hard and restless. In Your peace, the one eternal God, I will rest securely. Amen.
