Streams of Joy 13th May 2025 Devotional (Friday) Message
TOPIC: More Than Imagined
SCRIPTURE READING: John 6:1-14
FOCUS VERSE: “There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?” (John 6: 9)
Prior to our Focal Scripture, Jesus had asked Philip where they could buy bread to feed the multitude. Jesus’ agenda was for bread to be brought for the multitude. Notice that in our Focal Scripture, there was a lad with both bread and fishes, and Jesus multiplied both in order to feed the multitude. The conversation began with bread, but Jesus made sure to add fish to the mix. The disciples may have expected bread, but Jesus did more.
Friend, hear me as I hear the Lord: in places where you are expecting only bread, Jesus is bringing fish to add to your bread. In places where you have a certain level of expectations, Jesus is bring more than you planned for. You are about to walk into new dimensions of greatness that you did not anticipate. You are about to experience new dimensions of divine provision that you did not even pray for. You are about to see more.
Hear me as I hear the Lord: you will have more than you prayed for. You will have more than you asked for. You will have more than you expected. You will have more than you prepared for. You will have more than you worked for. God will add more to you than you truly laboured for. God will cause your wine to overflow. God will cause a pleasant addition to your resources. God will bring you to the place where you will have more.
You serve a God that has a commitment to do more than your expectations. You serve a God who is committed to giving you a surprise element in His provision towards you. If El Roi be for you, get set: you will get more than you planned for; you will have more than you imagined. May the Lord surprise you with a miracle that is not on your list. May the Lord cause you to have what you are yet to pray for.
Welcome to that season where you will have more than you asked for. Welcome to your season where God will add pleasant surprises, above what you bargained for.
John 1: 50 says: “Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto thee, I saw thee under the fig tree, believest thou? thou shalt see greater things than these.”
DECLARATION: I shall have more than I asked for; I shall receive more than I imagined, in Jesus’ name!
