MFM Daily Devotional 9th June 2025 – MESSAGE
As a Christian parent, your children are your greatest assets (Psalm 127:3-5). This is why the Bible emphasizes the importance of raising your children right. It is especially critical to teach your children the law of the Lord so that they will not be corrupted with the wrong teachings. Considering how impressionable children are, you have a great responsibility as a parent and are accountable to God over His heritage.
Children are God’s only way of replenishing the earth with His favorite creation—man. Each child is born within a specific time frame. Children who are born between 1997 and 2012 belong to Generation Z, or Gen Z for short. There are peculiar characteristics associated with each generation which parents should be mindful of.
Gen Z, or Zoomers, grow up fully immersed in technology. They are more technologically advanced than most millennials and Generation X parents. This can pose a challenge for parents who are not so tech-savvy. However, parents can easily overcome this challenge by embracing technology in order to correctly understand and guide their children.
The issue of the generation gap is even tougher for Christian parents. Many young Christians nowadays cannot understand why they have to read the Bible and pray always, while some of their peers express contempt for Christianity. Dear parent, no matter how tough the going is, the Bible specifically commands that you discipline and bring your children up in the way of the Lord (Proverbs 22:6; Isaiah 54:13) and never provoke them (Colossians 3:21).
Your exemplary life of never compromising on Christian values prepares them for life’s challenges. When they are older, they will understand your approach. Their innermost minds store up everything, no matter how insignificant they may seem. I pray that you will be able to render a good account of yourself before our Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ name.
