MEMORISE
Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that commi t teth fornicat ion sinneth against his own body
1 Corinthians 6:18
READ: 1 Corinthians 6:15-20
15 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never! 16 Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, “The two will become one flesh.”[a] 17 But whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit.[b]
18 Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body. 19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.
OPEN HEAVENS FOR TEENS DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE:
When a young man or lady involves himself or herself in sexual immorality, he or she has abused God. Your body was given to you by God, and one day, you will give account of how you used it. As a child of God, from the moment you gave your life to Christ, your body became the temple of God – every part of it.
Fornication is a grave sin because it is a total abuse of the temple of God. For instance, if a special plate is reserved for a father in a home, and one of his nephews or nieces comes for the holidays and uses the plate to serve leftover food to the family dog, what do you think will happen when he finds out? I am sure he will be very angry and either leave the plate for the dog’s use or throw it away. If you engage in sexual activities outside marriage, you will be committing an offence just like the nephew or niece in the example above. My dear child, the act of fornication is a defilement of the temple of God, and anyone who defiles God’s temple will see His wrath.
