MFM Daily Devotional 31 May 2025 – MESSAGE
Dear Christian mother, what is your legacy to your children? No matter your circumstance, be assured that you are still duty-bound to bring up your children in the way of the Lord. Are you a divorcee, a widow, or unequally yoked in marriage (married to an unbeliever), or have you had children outside marriage? As long as you belong to Jesus and He has entrusted children to your care by making you a mother, He has made provisions for you to successfully bring them up in His way.
Mercifully, God gave Lois and Eunice (Timothy’s mother and grandmother in the Bible) as examples for Christian mothers. If Timothy’s father was a gentile who would not even allow them to circumcise him, I am sure he probably did not allow them to expose him to other aspects of the Christian culture.
Timothy had no Christian male role model early in life; his environment as he grew up was probably not Christian. But his mother and grandmother lived in sincere faith which they successfully passed on to him. They prayerfully brought him up with the word of God, and this prepared him for a life in Christ. He later became a bishop, whom the Apostle Paul called “my dearly beloved son in Christ.”
Grandmother, mother, are you the first Christian in a family deeply embedded in pagan traditions? Are you a single parent, and your children yearn for the absentee parent, tending to take out their frustrations on you by being rebellious? These and any other peculiar situations are no excuses.
The Ancient of Days in John 14:1 said, “Let not your heart be troubled. You believe in God, believe also in me.” Just like Lois and Eunice, your faith can see you through.
Beloved, praying and reading the Bible all the time, exercising sincere faith in God, and living what you read and pray are the ingredients that you need to make your children what God wants them to be. If the problem persists, go for deliverance with your children.
MFM DEVOTIONAL PRAYER POINTS:
MORNING
- Fire of God, purge my foundation and the foundations of my children, in the name of Jesus.
- O God, make me a responsible and accountable parent, in the name of Jesus.
- Holy Spirit, give me the wisdom and guidance to be an exemplary parent, in the name of Jesus.
EVENING
- Every evil flow from my parents and ancestors into the lives of me and my children, dry up now, in the name of Jesus.
- Strong man of my father’s house and strong man of my mother’s house assigned to trouble my children, die now, in the name of Jesus.
- Father, help me to leave a legacy of faith and Christian virtues for my children and grandchildren, in the name of Jesus.
- I declare that my children and I are for signs and wonders, in the name of Jesus.
