Streams of Joy 29th May 2025 Devotional (Thursday) Message
TOPIC: Remember Your Purpose
SCRIPTURE READING: Judges 16: 1-31
MEMORY VERSE
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2: 10)
FOCUS VERSE:
“And Samson said, Let me die with the Philistines. And he bowed himself with all his might; and the house fell upon the lords, and upon all the people that were therein. So the dead which he slew at his death were more than they which he slew in his life.” (Judges 16: 30)
In our Focal Scripture, Samson decided that it was time for the Philistines that came to watch him perform comedy, to die. Samson was ordained a Nazarite unto the Lord, and his primary assignment was to wipe out the Philistines. Samson’s life’s assignment was to bring pain and tears to the Philistines, and in what seemed like his last chance at life, Samson did not forget the very essence of his life and existence. He didn’t forget his assignment.
Friend, no matter what happens, never forget your assignment. Never lose sight of that mission that God Himself gave you. Never lose sight of the mission that heaven has bestowed on you. Never lose sight of the agenda of God that is tied to your life. Never lose sight of the man that heaven expects you to be in the open and in the secret. Never lose sight of the assignment that heaven expects you to complete. Don’t forget your assignment.
Samson lost the seven locks of hairs on his head; he lost his eyes; he lost his freedom and was put in chains; he lost everything that should have mattered to him; but he was not about to forget his assignment. He refused to forget who God made him, even though the circumstances were not favourable. No matter how unfavourable the circumstances are, don’t lose sight of your assignment. Don’t forget who God made you.
When Samson remembered his assignment, he decided that it was time for the Philistines to die. When he remembered his life’s purpose, he determined what must die. Whenever you remember the assignment that God has put on your life, always discern what must not be allowed to survive. Discern what must be put to death whenever you remember your assignment. Discern the ideas, relationships, connections, etc. that must die.
To forget your assignment is to forget why God gave you a chance to live in the first place. No matter what happens, never forget your destiny assignment.
DECLARATION:
What happened to others will not happen to me, in Jesus’ name!
