Streams of Joy 24th May 2025 Devotional (Saturday) Message
TOPIC: Evil Rejoicing
SCRIPTURE READING: Judges 16: 1-31
FOCUS VERSE: Then the lords of the Philistines gathered them together for to offer a great sacrifice unto Dagon their god, and to rejoice: for they said, Our god hath delivered Samson our enemy into our hand. And when the people saw him, they praised their god: for they said, Our god hath delivered into our hands our enemy, and the destroyer ofj our country, which slew many of us.” (Judges 16: 23-24)
Our Focal Scripture captures the moment when the Philistines began to rejoice because Samson had been captured. They praised Dagon their god, for delivering Samson into their hands. They rejoiced because the one who once slew them in their numbers, had become their captive. They rejoiced on account of the misfortune that befell Samson. They rejoiced because they great man they once feared had become their victim.
Friend, hear me as I hear the Lord: your life will never give your enemies reasons to rejoice. Those who are against you will never see the events of your life and have reasons to rejoice. The kingdom of darkness will never have cause to rejoice over your life. Your haters will never have reasons to rejoice at your misfortune. Your opposers will never be alive to celebrate your downfall. You will not give enemies something to cheer about.
The successes of Samson were a worry to his enemies. He gave them something to cry about as he pursued heaven’s mandate on his life with everything in him. One sure way to avoid giving your haters something to cheer about, is to keep your eyes on your mandate. Focus on your calling; focus on your assignment; focus on your mission; focus on God’s will for your life. Focus on doing what makes heaven happy.
To be distracted from your mandate is to give the enemy something to cheer about. To lose focus is to impress the enemies. To stop doing what you were called to do, is to gladden your enemies. At some point, choose between making your enemies happy or sad. Choose between making impact and abandoning your journey of impact. Choose between being your best and being your worst. Choose how you want enemies to feel.
You were not called to make haters happy. You were called to make Jesus proud. You were called to a life of impact. You were called to fulfill purpose.
Micah 7: 8 says: “Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me.”
DECLARATION: My enemies will never rejoice on account of my life, in Jesus’ name!
