Streams of Joy 22nd May 2025 Devotional (Thursday) Message
TOPIC: No Bondage
SCRIPTURE READING: Judges 16: 1-31
MEMORY VERSE
“Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.” (Galatians 5: 1)
FOCUS VERSE:
“But the Philistines took him, and put out his eyes, and brought him down to Gaza, and bound him with fetters of brass; and he did grind in the prison house.” (Judges 16: 21)
Our Focal Scripture speaks of how Samson was bound with fetters. This was the same man that the Philistines feared; this was the same man that terrorized their entire nation; this was the same man they paid Delilah to betray. The moment they got him into their hands, they put him in chains. They put him in fetters that he would not terrorize them again. They put him in fetters that he would not be all that heaven destined him to be.
Friend, beware of relationships and people who put you in chains and fetters. Beware of relationships that confine you and stop you from being all that God destined you to be. Beware of associations that stop your destiny from finding expression. Beware of places that mitigate the greatness that God already ordained for you. Beware of the mistakes that open up your life to chains. Beware of the bondage that comes when you mingle with Delilah.
Samson was one man who could rise in the midnight and take up the gate of a city with its pillars and go up a hill. He would slay as many Philistines as he deemed necessary, at short notice. He was feared by the Philistines on account of the exploits and the ruthlessness by which he annihilated them; but in a matter of time, he ended in their fetters. If you ever attain greatness, be intentional to stay away from fetters.
Shut down every mistake that wants to put you in chains. Shut down every journey that wants you to end in fetters. Shut down every choice that takes you closer to confinement. Shut down every destiny mistake that wants to mitigate your greatness. Shut down every line of communication that seeks to keep your soul in chains. Do not take steps that will usher you into chains. Do not make moves that will move you into bondage.
Jesus did not redeem you so that you can return to bondage. Jesus set you free, so stand fast in that liberty wherewith Christ already set you free.
DECLARATION:
My places of triumph will never become places of defeat, in Jesus’ name!
