Verse of the Day – Good Friday
Isaiah 53:5 (NIV)
“But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
and by his wounds we are healed.”
Today, on Good Friday, we pause to reflect on the weight and wonder of the cross. It is not merely a historical event—it is the deepest expression of God’s love for humanity. In Isaiah’s prophetic words, we are reminded that Jesus bore our sins, took our punishment, and carried our shame, all to bring us peace and healing.
The cross was not a tragedy; it was a triumph cloaked in suffering. Jesus willingly endured betrayal, mockery, and death so that we might be reconciled to God. His wounds became our redemption. His silence before his accusers became our defense. His death became the doorway to eternal life.
Let this day not just be one of mourning, but of deep gratitude. Sit with the sorrow, but don’t miss the love. The blood-stained cross is now a symbol of hope, mercy, and victory.
Short Prayer
Jesus, thank You for the cross. Thank You for loving us so much that You gave Your life for ours. Help us to carry that love with us today, to live in the freedom You paid for, and to never forget the power of Your sacrifice. Amen.
