SCRIPTURE UNION DAILY GUIDE – 15 APRIL 2025 OUTLINE:
The Jewish leaders have come to the ‘decision to put Jesus to death’ even before coming before the governor, the one vested with the responsibility of pronouncing a fair verdict. Many innocent people are being condemned (guilty ones freed) at night caucus meetings of the powerful men in our society.
Read Matthew 27:3-4 again and assess the action of Judas following the arrest and condemnation of Jesus. He felt remorse for his evil action and even confessed he had sinned. But was this true repentance (compare 2 Corinthians 7:10). Desire for riches blocked his mind from yielding to the warnings of his master (Matthew 26:24). What he longed after became too hot for him to handle. See the warning in 1 Timothy 6:10 and Ecclesiastes 5:10.
Today, many people engage in all kinds of evils in their quest to make money. Some engage in kidnapping, organ harvesting, prostitution, banditry, money laundering and other internet financial crimes. Consider many young men who have lost their lives in drug peddling and armed robbery! We must learn from the errors of others like Judas.
* Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?
Closing Prayer:
Deliver me, dear Lord, from the love of money and other sins that could lead to eternal damnation.
