Streams of Joy 30th March 2025 Devotional (Sunday) Message
“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Hebrews 12: 2)
“And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way.” (Matthew 8: 28)
Our Focal Scripture speaks of how the men that were possessed by demons, were coming out of the tombs to meet Jesus. Jesus showed up, and the men in the tombs began coming out in order to meet Him. They were still demon possessed, but they began a journey towards Jesus.
Their problems may not have been solved, but they began to journey towards Jesus until they journeyed out of the tomb and never went back.
Friend, you may still have your troubles all around you, but do well to journey towards Jesus as you grapple with them. Journey towards Jesus even if you are still in chains. Journey towards Jesus even if your prayers have not been answered.
Journey towards Jesus even if your situation is yet to change. Journey towards Jesus even if your chapter of pain and shame is yet to come to a close. Journey towards Jesus even if you are not yet free indeed.
Jesus showed up, and the next thing that happened was that the men in the tombs began to journey out of the tombs. Jesus showed up, and their time in the tomb came to an end. The appearance of Jesus marked the end of their time in the tomb. Commit to journeying out of the tomb and journeying towards Jesus. Every journey towards Jesus will take you away from the tomb. To seek Jesus is to leave the tomb.
When those men left the tomb to go and meet Jesus, He set them free, and they never needed to return to the tomb. They journeyed out of their bondage to go and meet Jesus, and their freedom came at last, and bondage was never reenacted.
I pray for you: as you journey towards Jesus despite your chains and bitter tears, you will not return to the same ‘tomb’ you moved out from. You will not go back to affliction.
Your journey towards Jesus will end your time in the tomb. Every movement towards Jesus will move you out of the tomb.
DECLARATION
My destiny will not be reduced, in Jesus’ name!
