Daily Guide 19th March 2025(Scripture Union) OUTLINE
The disciples have followed Jesus for a while, hearing His teachings, witnessing His miracles, and observing His lifestyle. You will expect each one of them to readily answer Christ’s questions in Matthew 16:13b,15. To the people Jesus is one of the prophets. This is not different from what many people today say about Him. This type of view reduces Jesus to the level of other mortals.
Thank God for Peter who, enabled through divine revelation, rightly identified Him as “the Christ, the Son of the living God”. Christ means the Messiah, the long prophesied, awaited, and anointed Deliverer. Jesus is the only one God declared to the hearing of all bystanders as His Son (see Matthew 3:17,17:5). How would you sincerely answer the question in Matthew 16:15? Is Christ your Saviour and Lord? You can become a child (son) of God only by receiving this Son of the living God (John 1:12).
Both Apostles Paul (Ephesians 2:20-22) and Peter (1 Peter 2:4-7) declare Jesus Christ as the cornerstone on which the Church is built. So, we boldly proclaim Jesus Christ as the anointed Deliverer and the Son of the living God.

Closing Prayer:
Lord Jesus, I acknowledge you as the anointed One, the son of the living God.
