Streams of Joy 14th February 2025 Daily Devotional (Saturday) Message

SCRIPTURE READING: Luke 13
“And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity.” (Luke 13: 12)
When Jesus saw the woman, who had the spirit of infirmity for eighteen years, He called her to Himself. Notice that this event happened in the synagogue. This event happened in the place of worship. The fact that she had come to the synagogue did not mean that she had met Jesus. She came to the temple but she was yet to truly meet Jesus. Jesus saw that woman and called her to come unto Him. Jesus’ first step was to bring her closer.
Friend, this is that season when you must come closer to El Roi. This is that time when you must encounter the Lord on a whole new level. This is the time for you to become more intimate with the Master. You may already be in the synagogue, but Jesus is softly calling for you to come closer to Him. Jesus is calling you to leave where you are and come into close proximity with Him. Jesus is demanding that you come closer to Him.
It’s time to dust up your walk with God again. It’s time to dust up your prayer life again. It’s time to hear God call you to Himself. It’s time for you to prioritize your walk with God. There are miracles waiting for you but you need to get closer to Jesus. There may be prayers unanswered but the God that you serve wants to have you closer to Himself. Jesus does not want to help you and later lose you. Jesus wants to live in you.
Jesus could have thrown a miracle at that woman immediately He saw her. He could have focused on what she needed and not bothered with calling her to Himself. No matter how important your issues are, never let them get in the way of your intimacy with Jesus. Never let the gifts you seek make you lose sight of the Giver. Whatever ‘spirit of infirmity’ you are dealing with should not steal you away from God’s presence.
Welcome to your new season of intimacy with God. Welcome to that season where Jesus is all that matters.
James 4: 8 says: “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.”
