The grumbling and constant complaint of rebellious Israelites against God in the wilderness has finally come to its head and now God accedes to their wishes: that it was better to have died in Egypt or in this wilderness (Numbers 14:2ff). As we noted yesterday, God’s patience though inexhaustible will not always be there for man.
We must also be careful what we wish for ourselves. God’s punishment came in the form the people feared most. They were afraid of dying in the wilderness, so God punished them by making them wander in the wilderness for 40 years until all their adults died. Failing to trust God often brings greater problems than those originally faced.
When we run from God, we inevitably run into bigger problems. When the Israelites realized their foolish mistake, they were suddenly ready to return to God. But their action was another rebellion. They went their way contrary to the direction of God through Moses. Such presumptuous action is not true repentance. Sometimes right action or good intentions come too late. We must not only do what is right but also do it at the right time. God wants complete and instant obedience.

* True and genuine repentance for the people and revival upon Nigerians • God’s intervention in all sectors; for mercy, healing, restoration and blessings. • The prophecies given concerning a corruption-free and righteous new Nigeria will be fulfilled and Nigeria will be great again. Declare that • A New Nigeria will come forth from darkness into light, from death to life. • Leaders will rule Nigeria in the fear of God.
PRAY AGAINST:
* All the plans of the devil to destroy Nigeria.
