Scripture Union Daily Guide 23rd January 2025 – OUTLINE
Observe how the Lord directed everything that was done at the camp of Israel. He spoke to Moses from the mercy seat who in turn passed on God’s orders to the people (Numbers 7:89). Aaron lit the lamps (Numbers 8:3) which provided light to the area in front of the lampstand. This was to enable the priests carry out their official duties. Christians are the light of the world. Ensure to brighten up your corner (Matthew 5:14,15).
Numbers 7:5-13: In the rites of consecration of the Levites, notice the part each group is to play. The Levites Numbers 8:7b-8a,12), Moses (Numbers 8:7a,12-13) and the whole assembly (Numbers 7:10). In the dedication of ministers for God’s work, we all have a role to play.
We must first dedicate ourselves to the Lord and then to His service (Romans 12:1). Moses sprinkles the water of purifying on the Levites. We are to daily apply the blood of Christ to our souls and bodies by faith, that we may be fit to serve the living God.
The Levites have a window of opportunity to serve the Lord (Numbers 8:23-26). Now is the time we have, to serve the Lord. ‘The night is coming, when no one can work’ (John 9:4; compare Ecclesiastes 12:1).
