When we read an Old Testament passage like today’s Psalm relating to God’s covenant with a special person like David, sometimes we wonder why it has timeless promises like that in Psalms 89:28-29. Read it.
Clearly, the vision about a covenant with David in this Psalm (Psalms 89:20) is actually a pointer to God’s unchanging covenant of redemption through Christ, the divinely anointed Messiah King of God’s people.
With this understanding, what else can we learn about the Messiah from Psalms 89:23,26-29? Like David, we can all identify with God’s covenant through Christ and experience His victorious testimonies in our journeys of faith and faithfulness. It is only when the Christ life is lived, “fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith” (Hebrews 12:2) that both the Old and New Testaments find their true meaning and practical application to our past, present, and the hope of our future.

* Decree unto your life and the lives of every member of SU, that in this year, none shall be feeble according to the word of the Lord • Pronounce healing for as many as are being afflicted with one sickness or the other.
