Many have remarked that the youth life of Christ Jesus was not documented. The Bible does not highlight that much. Today’s passage, however, does give us a fair idea as to the kind of life Jesus lived in His youthful days. Vs.40, 51, and 52 give the strong suggestion that Christ lived a blameless life at home with His parents.
Joseph and Mary had taken seriously the command to train our children, even though they knew Jesus was the special Son of God. So, they introduced Him to their custom of worshipping God at the Temple in Jerusalem (v.43). When Jesus was twelve years old, He had the opportunity to visit the Lord’s temple in Jerusalem.
When Christ’s parents did not find Him, where did they first search for Him, and why? How is Christ’s zeal for the Lord’s house seen in this passage? See vs.43, 46 and 47. Do you, as a parent or guardian, by your word and action, help your children/ward develop the right attitude towards the things of God?
From v.52, consider the four dimensions in which Jesus grew. How can Christian parents ensure this in their homes?
