TODAY’S SCRIPTURE: Matthew 2
“And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born.” (Matthew 2: 4)
In our Focal Scripture, Herod gathered the chief priests and scribes of the people to demand from them where Christ should be born. Herod was the king, he was at the apex of the kingdom, but he had enough reasoning in him to ask the right people about the birth of Christ. Herod could have been a wicked king, but he was wise enough to know who to ask about what he didn’t know, and he actually did ask them. He was open to learning.
Friend, as you rise through the ranks, never cease to learn irrespective of heights you have attained. Don’t stop learning. Don’t stop opening up yourself to more knowledge. Don’t stop opening up your ears to people who have information to offer you. Don’t stop opening your eyes to new things that you do not yet know. Don’t stop seeking to know more than you currently know. Don’t stop seeking to gain more understanding.
It is only a man without understanding that believes himself to know everything and have no need for more knowledge. It is only someone who is not wise that believes himself to be too big or too highly placed to gain more knowledge. It is only an unwise person that believes that it is belittling to learn from those who may even be under you. It is only one without enough understanding who believes that heights mean the learning should stop.
Even when Herod had become a king, he still had a network of men who knew more than he knew. Not knowing enough didn’t stop him from being king, and being king did not stop him from seeking to know more. Don’t let your rising become a trap for mediocrity. Maintain a network that adds knowledge to you on a regular. Maintain a network of those who open the gates of your life to information that will help you rise.
Remember, being a king must never stop you from seeking to learn more. It’s better to be a king that is learning than to be an ignorant king.
Proverbs 4: 13 says: “Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life.”
DECLARATION: I choose to keep learning, in Jesus’ name!
