Unbelief is costly (vs.18-22): Notice Zechariah’s logical reasoning and the consequence (vs.18-19). His reaction is consistent with how we often reason in moments of difficulty. It would have done him much good had he remembered God’s dealings in the Scriptures with Abraham (Genesis 18:9-14; 21:1-8), Isaac (Genesis 25:20-26), Manoah (Judges 13) and Hannah (1 Samuel 1). Unbelief caused Zechariah to lose the voice with which to share the good news brought by the angel Gabriel (vs.19-22)! Unbelief could result in even worse consequences including death. This episode should, therefore, serve as a warning to all God’s people.
Elizabeth is pregnant (vs.23-25)! How comforting for Zechariah to return home and after some days to see his wife pregnant! And what a strange experience for Elizabeth in her very old age! Any wonder then that she hid herself for five months (v.24). How do you understand Elizabeth’s remark in v.25 (cf. Genesis 30:22-23)? How we need to be careful when we make remarks about Christians who are experiencing delays in receiving the blessing of the Lord!
Practice/Word Application
And so? Physical limitations do not limit God. God will accomplish His will, often in unexpected ways. Trust Him.

THANK GOD FOR:
‣ The continuous mercies enjoyed by brethren in the Region in their health, travels, families, business, etc.
‣ The national Camp of Peace, Abuja, (NCOPA) land and the progress so far, the fencing, block molding, and even the approvals received so far
‣ Securing the brethren, the EDC Chairman, the security guards and other brethren from attacks of the Fulani herders.
PRAY FOR:
‣ Great flow of resources to actualize the vision of having a full camp soonest
‣ God to push the heart of the Government into granting fast approvals for the building plans and other documents they may need to attend to
‣ Indigenous converts that join the pilgrim groups will be sustained, rooted, built up and zealous in the Lord, being reflected in attendance and participation in Group, Zonal and Area programmes.
