TOPIC: Celebrate the Moment

Today’s Reading
Psalm 104:24-35

Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. – Psalm 90:12 (NIV)

Today’s Message
One Saturday evening, my family and I had just had a good dinner. On our walk home, we decided to stop by the grocery store for a few things. It was a clear night. My son and I waited for my husband outside the store. “Look, Mom,” my son said, pointing to the moon. It was a beautiful view of the full moon gleaming in the night sky. I immediately took out my phone and started taking photo after photo, but my son encouraged me to put away my phone and appreciate the moment with him instead. As we gazed at the amazingly beautiful moon, I gave my son a tight hug.

That evening with my son taught me to be grateful and appreciate all that God is doing in our lives. It is important to value the ordinary moments and days God has given us. Psalm 90:12 says, “Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” We cannot know what tomorrow will bring. Therefore, let’s dedicate today and every day to God — one day at a time.

Today’s Prayer
Dear God, fill our hearts with gratitude so that we will appreciate all you do for us each day. Amen.

Thought for the Day
I will be present in the moment God is giving me.

Prayer Focus
To notice God’s wonders around me
