23 The soldiers hit Paul and Silas many times. Then they took hold of them and they pushed them into the prison. The officers said to the prison guard, ‘Lock the prison door carefully so that these men cannot get free.’
24 The prison guard did what he had been told to do. He put Paul and Silas in a room in the middle of the prison. He put their feet between big heavy pieces of wood so that they could not move their legs.

MFM DAILY DEVOTIONAL 5TH NOVEMBER 2024 – MESSAGE:
The Fire Scripture today gives us insight into the lives of two men in the Bible. They are Paul and Silas. These men were missionaries who went to a particular city to preach. During their stay in this city, they were arrested by some people and kept in the prison. Their response to this situation was quite interesting and encouraging. The Bible says that at midnight, Paul and Silas started to pray and sing hymns to God and the other prisoners could hear them.
Anytime we decide to praise God the way Paul and Silas did in the prison, we turn praise to high praise. Praise becomes high praise because it is a sacrificial praise. It is not done because situation is not favourable and comfortable, but because we are totally in love and committed to God. It is high praise that commands unusual response from God. The Bible records that God intervened in Paul’s and Silas’ situation while they were singing praise to Him. This is what we experience anytime we choose to praise God in the face of a terrible situation.
Man was created primarily to praise God. Because of the different seasons and situations that characterise life, man finds it easy to praise God in the good times of life but when circumstances of life are not favourable, many people find it very difficult to praise God and instead complain and murmur against Him.
Beloved, the high praise of God is a sacrificial praise and it confirms our loyalty and allegiance to God. This is the praise that separates believers who serve God because of what they will get from Him and believers who serve God because they love Him genuinely and sincerely. These believers will follow and praise the Lamb of God in any situation. This is what Job did when he lost his business, empire and children. The Bible says Job knelt down and worshiped God.
I enjoin you to worship God in the beauty of His holiness and give Him high praise today.
TODAY’S PRAYER POINTS:
MORNING
1. I choose to praise God for who He is in my life, in the Name of Jesus.
2. Father, I praise You for all the great and wonderful things You have done for me and my family, in the Name of Jesus.
3. I receive the garment of praise and reject the spirit of heaviness, in the Name of Jesus.
EVENING
4. Father, I praise You for all the things that You are yet to do and the ones that are not favourable in my life, in the Name of Jesus.
5. Lord, give a new garment of praise that will make me addicted to a life of praise regardless of what is going on in my life, in the Name of Jesus.
6. I declare that I will bless the Lord at all times and His praise shall continually be in my mouth, in the Name of Jesus.
7. I declare an unending season of high praise to God this month, in the Name of Jesus.
