SCRIPTURE: Daniel 3:19-30
Question(s) for Reflection
* Q 1: What does the passage teach about God the Father, or God the Son or God the Holy Spirit?
* Q2: Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?
* Q7: What truth is God revealing to me in this passage?
Consider the odds against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego: Top government officials were instigating the king, the king was furious and hostile, the crowd was watching, and the furnace was blazing. Yet, they were not terrified by the king’s order. Their situation was made worse by the increased intensity of the furnace. They were bound to ensure no room for escape, and their clothes left on them to add fuel to the fire. How will you feel and what will you do if you find yourself in such an impossible situation (Psalm 23:4)?
See vs.24-25 for the miraculous turn-around immediately these men landed in the furnace. The fourth Man in the furnace still stands by His faithful, persecuted children even today (see Acts. 23:11, John 16:33).
Read vs.21, 25, 27 and observe the differences in the three men’s conditions when they were being thrown into the furnace, when they were inside it, and when they came out. What impact did their wonderful deliverance make on:
{a} the officials who conspired against them (v.27),
{b} Nebuchadnezzar (vs.28-29),
{c} Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego (v.30). Note v.22.
Practice/Word Application
Reflect: If all were easy, if all were bright.
Where would the cross be,
where would the fight.
But in the hard place God gives to you,
Chances of proving what He can do. (M. Duff)

Closing Prayer
Strengthen me, Lord, to be fearless and faithful to you always.
Offer a prayer of faith in line with Exodus 3:8
“And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites.”
