SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY: Daniel 2:24-49
QUESTIONS FOR REFLECTION
* Q2: Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?
* Q7: What truth is God revealing to me in this passage?
Daniel’s character shines through in this passage. Notice in vs.27-30, how he responds to Nebuchadnezzar’s question in v.26? Through giving the credit to God, Daniel introduced the king to “the King of heaven”. More of such encounters made a great impact on king Nebuchadnezzar’s life later. How do you influence your contemporaries and bosses (v.47)?
The great statue Nebuchadnezzar saw represents four kingdoms that will reign globally, one after the other. Secular history and Bible prophecy identify these kingdoms as: Babylon (Head of gold), Medo-Persia (chest and arms of silver), Greece (belly and thighs of bronze), Rome (legs and feet of iron/clay). A fifth Kingdom represented by the Rock, cut without hand, terminated, and replaced all the others.
Read vs.34, 35c, 44 and Revelation 11:15 and identify this fifth Kingdom and outline its characteristics. All who repent and acknowledge Jesus Christ as their Saviour and Lord are members of this Kingdom. Are you?
Daniel’s action in v.49 is a good example for us and especially, leaders.
Practice/Word Application
So? Different kingdoms will rise and fall but that of Jesus Christ will crush them all and last forever.
* Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?
