SCRIPTURE: PSALM 78:52-72

Scripture Union Daily Guide 5th October 2024 – MESSAGE
Observe the sequence of events in our reading today. First, we see how God led and guided Israel, fought off their enemies, and placed them in the Promised Land (vs.52-55). Second, we see Israel turning away to worship worthless idols (vs.56-58). Third, we see God, in righteous anger and true justice forsaking His people and delivering them into the hands of their enemies (vs.59-64).
Fourth, we see God coming to the aid of His people and rescuing them from the hands of their enemies (vs.65-66). Fifth, out of all the tribes of Israel, He chose David, of the tribe of Judah, to be the shepherd of His people in the long term (vs.67-72).
Of special interest is the transition from the third step to the fourth. Look at the figure of speech used in v.65. It was like the action of a man suddenly awake from sleep or acting without reason like a drunkard! What God did in saving Israel was actually contrary to reason! They did not deserve God’s mercy! The word for it is “Grace.”

* Pray for people living with disabilities in Nigeria that Nigeria government and the various denominations will remember them and make provisions to make their lives easier to manage • Pray that they will not use their condition as an excuse to live a reckless life, but know that God can still make out something beautiful out of their lives
Offer a prayer of faith in line with 2 Thessalonians 3:16
“Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all.”

‣ Giving peace unto his children to discuss amicably and arrive at decisions to carry forward in 2025.
PRAY FOR:
‣ Oneness in the Spirit to yield to the will of the Almighty God in the meeting
‣ Strength upon every member as they sit long and make contributions
‣ Grace upon the Council Secretary to correctly pen down every decision that is taken
‣ Pray against every form of manipulation of the enemy on the journey back to their Regions tomorrow
