There were so many theories in the Philistine’s camp as to what to do with the Ark. They could not deny the fact that Dagon has been defeated and Yahweh is victorious. What does the journey of the Ark back to Beth Shemesh tell the people (vs.10-12)?
The journey of the cows conveying the Ark is an example of God’s miracles. Even though that was not the stipulated procedure for transporting the Ark, God overlooked their ignorance and led the Ark to its place of rest (v.14). They travelled for an equivalent of sixteen kilometres without a guide or direction to where God wanted them to go. God sometimes directs our path to where He wants us to go if only we can trust Him all the way.
Unfortunately, the joy of the Ark’s return was short-lived when seventy of the inhabitants of Beth Shemesh died. The lesson is clear, no one could mess about with the Ark, be they Israelite or Philistine (v.19). Peeping into the Ark was like seeking to see the face of God.
Moses was told that he could not see the face of God and live (Exodus 33:20). Jesus has brought us into fellowship with God. In Him, we do see God’s face and live. In Him, we have access to the Father.

THANK GOD FOR:
‣ In Christ Jesus we who were not Israel are now Israel of God by faith through His ‣ promise.
‣ Through His son, Jesus Christ, we are reckoned as righteous.
PRAY FOR:
‣ God to give us great heaviness and continual sorrow in our hearts for the lost souls.
‣ Help from above to be focused in our walk with and work for Him in holy living and fruitfulness.
‣ Fresh empowerment from on high that will stimulate our interest and commitment continually.
