TOPIC: Who Am I, Sovereign Lord?
Today’s Scripture
Then King David went in and sat before the LORD, and he said: “Who am I, Sovereign LORD, and what is my family, that you have brought me this far?” – 2 Samuel 7:18, NIV
Today’s Word
David was looking back over his life, thinking, “How did I get to where I am today? I was a shepherd, and now I’m a king. I’m respected. I have a lasting dynasty.” He was saying, “It could only be one thing—the Sovereign God.” Five times in the next few verses he refers to God as sovereign.
He says, “Sovereign Lord, You have promised good things to me.” Can I tell you that the Sovereign Lord has good things for you. It’s not based on how well you perform, who likes you, what family you come from, or what the economy does. There are blessings and breakthroughs that God has already written in your script. Instead of worrying, thinking that it’s never going to happen, trying to earn it, why don’t you do as David did and say, “Sovereign Lord, thank You for the good things You have in store for me. Thank You for choosing me before I could choose You. Thank you for not depending on my performance, my faith, or my circumstances, but blessing me because of Your goodness.”
Prayer For Today
“Father, thank You for being on Your throne, for reigning as sovereign over my health, my finances, my family, and my circumstances. Thank You that You are my provider, my healer, my way maker, my deliverer. I declare that I am where I am today because of Your sovereignty. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
