Open Heaven For Teens 3rd September 2024 Daily Devotional Message By Pastor E.A Adeboye And Pastor (Mrs) Folu Adeboye
TOPIC: King Herod
MEMORISE
Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. – Philippians 2:3
READ
Matthew 2:1-16
King Herold ruled over the Jews during the time of Jesus’ birth. While he appeared to be a successful leader, the truth about him was far from admirable.
King Herod was disturbed by the news of a new king being born and felt threatened by this potential rival to his throne. He asked the wise men (magi) to find the baby and report to him so he could pay homage. However, he had darker plans in his mind.
He was willing to do whatever it took to remain king, even if it meant taking the lives of innocent children. He eventually killed all the children in his kingdom who were aged two years and under in the hope that he would eliminate the threat to his throne.
King Herod’s story is a reminder of the dangers of seeking power and control at all costs. It is a warning to all of us not to become consumed by ambition, greed, or the desire for power. Instead, we should live a life that reflects God’s character, which is guided by love, kindness, and compassion for others.
I pray that just as Herod failed in his attempt to kill Jesus, those who are after your destiny will fail woefully, in Jesus’ name
KEY POINT
Learn from Herod’s story; don’t be power-drunk
