TOPIC: Let Your Light Shine!
OPENING PRAYER: Dear Lord, may the entrance of your word bring light and life to all I will do today.
SCRIPTURE: Leviticus 24:1-23

The seven lamps were to be kept burning continuously in the Tabernacle. They were to be fuelled by pure olive oil. In the new covenant, the true light for revelation to the Gentiles and for the glory God’s people, Israel, is Jesus Christ. As Christians, we are to let the light of Christ’s salvation shine in our daily living to the glory of God, the Father (see Matthew 5: 16).
Apart from providing food for Aaron and his sons, the bread of the Presence was a sign that God would grant His people their daily bread (cf. Matthew 6:11). The great God who had provided manna in the wilderness continues to provide Israel’s daily bread and ours today. Do you thank Him daily for this?
The man who blasphemed was put to death. But this punishment was not carried out hastily or in anger (v.12). However, this severe punishment was carried out to show God is holy and we must honour His name. Other punishments listed show respect for human life and property. V.20 was seen as a limitation of vengeance for wrongdoing so that the injury inflicted on the wrong doer should not be worse than the original injury he caused. Also, it is the community that executes the judgment, not individuals. And we Christians now live under a new covenant with new regulations (see Matthew 5:38-42).

THANK GOD FOR:
‣ This gathering of God’s people in Scripture Union Nigeria, which comes up every five years
‣ The planning Committee which have already started work
‣ All that he intends to do through this convention in SU ministry
PRAY FOR:
‣ Divine wisdom, and direction for the Council as they continue to deliberate and take some important decisions on the forth coming convention
‣ All the vessels that God wants to use; the expositor, and others, that God will fill them with his Spirit and guide them as they prepare for this assignment
‣ The LOC, Okigwe Region, for strength, wisdom and unity as they work to prepare the venue for the convention
