TODAY’S MESSAGE
Several years ago, I accepted a new position as an organist at a church with thousands of members. As I walked through the church’s massive doors on my first Sunday, I was filled with trepidation. How would I ever find the courage to play for such an enormous congregation? Silently, I prayed, “Dear God, please help me!”
As I waited for the service to begin, I looked out at the congregation and saw a familiar face. Just a few days before I had met a woman, a supermarket cashier, whose quiet demeanor radiated kindness and warmth. Seeing her sitting in a nearby pew filled me with peace and calm. It felt like a sign from God that all would be well. Her kindness and gentle presence gave me the courage to answer God’s call, and my first service at that church led to many years of joy-filled experiences in music ministry. Whenever I recall this experience, I am reminded that treating others with kindness can impact lives in unexpected ways.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear God, thank you for your love and guidance. Please help us to show kindness to one another. In Christ’s name. Amen.
