Rod Parsley Daily Devotional for April 19, 2024
TOPIC: The Perfect Sacrifice
But He emptied Himself, taking upon Himself the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men. – Philippians 2:7
Today is Good Friday, and the week of Passover begins at sunset this evening. Passover commemorates God’s deliverance of His people from slavery in Egypt. God told the Israelites to slay a lamb and put its blood on the doorpost and lentils of their homes. If the blood was not found on the home, the firstborn of that family would be slain by the death angel. (It is no coincidence the markings of the blood formed a cross.)

Jesus was crucified on Passover, and so it is not just a Jewish holiday, but a spiritual commemoration for followers of Christ, as well. Jesus is the Passover Lamb for all who believe in Him, both Jew and Gentile.
For He is our peace, who has made both groups one and has broken down the barrier of the dividing wall, by abolishing in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of the commandments contained in ordinances, that in Himself He might make the two into one new man, thus making peace, and that He might reconcile both to God into one body through the cross, thereby slaying the enmity (Ephesians 2:14-16).
Jesus, thank You for Your perfect sacrifice. Because of You, I have an intimate relationship with God.
Lord, use me. As Your vessel, pour Your spirit through me. Sanctify and purify me so that I might become as a vessel of honor. Amen.
