Scripture Union Daily Guide 8 APRIL 2024 OUTLINE
In vs.14-21, the Lord indicates what He has done for His people Israel. Read these verses again carefully and note these things: for instance, He has punished the Babylonians on their behalf (vs.14,15). Even the wild animals show appreciation to God for His gracious provision for their lives. God provides for our lives. When we are lost in our wilderness of life, when we are confused about the direction we should take in life, He steps in to show us the way, like He did for the Israelites. This should elicit praise from us (vs.20,21).
Unfortunately, Israel failed to recognize God’s goodness to them. Instead of giving thanks offerings, they burdened God with their sins (vs.22-24). In vs.26-28, the Lord forcefully points out Israel’s guilt. It all began from our first father who sinned; and the teachers who should have corrected us also rebelled against God. So, the Lord had to punish His people. He disgraced the temple officials and consigned Israel to destruction. They were sent into exile. Despite their failure to honour God, the Lord promises to remember their sins no more and to blot out their transgressions (v.25). For us today, the Lord continues to show us His mercy and wipe out our transgressions (v.25). What should be our response to God’s mercy towards us?

Closing Prayer
Lord, grant us grace to turn from our sins, receive your offer of forgiveness, and thrust ourselves to your direction for our lives.
Offer a prayer of faith in line with Mark 9:24
“And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.”

2. The yoke of carnality and worldliness should be broken in our lives and families
3. God in His mercy will bring restoration of backsliders to the faith.
PRAY AGAINST:
1. Every threat to compromise
2. Institutionalized evil in our offices and workplace
