MESSAGE:
Beloved, youthful lust is one of the evil of these last days. It is currently breeding all kinds of vices in the society and there is an urgent need to stop it before it causes more havoc and destroy more lives.
At the time that God raised Moses and sent him to Pharaoh to let the Israelites go, pharach was stubborn and he refused. It was a lot of war before Pharaoh finally agreed with a condition, that the old ones could go but the young ones should stay behind.
We see a lot of this in the church today. Most youths want to serve God on their terms, not on God’s terms. It is the older ones that are more submissive to God’s will and are occupying the top positions in the church. The young ones still want to enjoy themselves.
Apostle Paul was instructing Timothy because he was a young man that could be carried away by youthful lust. He encouraged him to endure hardness as a soldier of Christ. Many believers these days like it the easy way; they do not want any form of trial or challenge. They want everything to always go their way. Paul advised
Timothy not to entangle himself with the affairs of the world.
Being a Christian demands total separation from the world and total attachment of one’s life to Christ. Some want to be Christians but have worldly friends and do what their worldly friends are doing. Dear reader of this devotional, when you gave your life to Christ, you signed in for everything. It is not about the one you can do and the one you cannot do. Your obedience must be complete. All the youthful lusts (fornication, fashion, material things, money, jewelry, etc.) will distract you and hinder your true purpose in life. Do not be carried away. The plan of God for you is mind-blowing; embrace Christ! I strongly counsel you to heed the advice of Paul. “Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the L he Lord out of a pure heart” (2 Timothy 2:22).
