SU DAILY GUIDE 24TH OCTOBER 2023 MESSAGE
The call to be patient and wait for the Lord’s return is timely. Read v.7 again and note the lesson(s) we can learn from the illustration in this verse. Meditate on how it can shape your attitude as you await the Lord’s soon return. How prepared are you if He is to come today? The farmer had to wait for rainfall twice in the year, early rains (around October) and late rains (late April or May). Although he could do nothing to bring it, he did not lose heart.
Read vs.10-11. What lesson(s) do you observe from these verses that will help to shape your attitude in times of suffering? As you wait patiently for the Lord’s return, beware of false teachers. Think of some helpful ways believers can overcome the influence of false teachers on their lives.
Following the teaching of our Lord, Jesus Christ, James urges us to be known always for speaking the truth, always meaning what we say (v.12 cf. Matthew 5:31-37) and say only what we mean (Ephesians 5:4). People should respect our words knowing that we are not given to saying one thing, ‘Yes’ and, meaning and doing another, ‘No’.
