Notice how Paul describes Christian leaders in vs.1-2 and what is required of them. Whereas Christian leaders are not without fault and whereas they should not be the ones to proclaim their innocence, it is often dangerous to judge them irresponsibly and unduly. We all often fall into this trap. Spectators always think they have the best solution until they are in the arena. God alone is the true judge of all things and all people. He sees men’s hearts and motives (vs.3-5).
Think carefully about the lessons Paul encourages his readers to learn from him (vs.6-7). We have nothing, which we have not received from God; be it natural abilities, spiritual gifts, possessions, education, or position of responsibility (John 3:27). All are from God. There is, therefore, no ground for boasting in these (v.7).
Read vs.9-13 and note some of the problems which Paul and some of the earlier apostles faced. What kind of attitude do vs.11,12 and 13 inform Christian leaders and indeed all Christians about? What is your personal attitude to the hardships you encounter because of your faith in our Lord Jesus Christ or in a leadership role you are playing in your Christian community?

► Wisdom to handle the matters of their offices, and to relate with the high and low.
► Grace and boldness to stand firm for righteousness
► They will use their positions to draw people to Christ.
► The Spirit of excellence to show forth in them
► They will not compromise their faith, no matter the opposition
PRAY AGAINST:
► Any ganging up to implicate them because of their faith
