TOPIC: Get Up And Move
FOCUS: “He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.” (Psalm 23: 2)
MESSAGE: In our Focal Scripture, the psalmist speaks of how the Shepherd makes him to lie down in green pastures. He also speaks of how the Shepherd leads him beside still waters. The psalmist paints a picture of a time to lie down and a time to arise and move. He paints a picture of rest on green pastures, and subsequent movement away from rest and into the journey through still waters. The psalmist inferred that there is a time to rise and move.
Friend, greatness demands that you realize that there is a time to lie down on green pastures and a time to wake up and move. There is a time to celebrate your current success and a time to leave it behind and chase new results. There is a time to beat your chest and congratulate yourself, but there is a time to arise from beating your chest and start threshing the mountains like wheat. There is a time to break out from green pastures.
The Shepherd does not allow the sheep to remain in the green pasture forever, because there is a journey ahead. The Shepherd realizes that there is a destination beyond the green pastures that could be enjoyable. The Shepherd realizes that if the sheep does not move away from the green pastures, it could choke on the pastures. The Shepherd realizes that the same sheep that needs pastures also needs to arise and look for water to drink.
Arise from the achievements of yesterday. Arise from the goals and targets you hit in time past. Arise from the results that have made men to congratulate you. Arise from the accomplishments of yesterday. Arise from the ashes of yesterday’s prayers. Arise from the victories of yesterday. Arise from every conquest of yesterday. Whatever you have seen God do is just a foretaste of what He is yet to do in you and around you.
Don’t be counted amongst them that got to their green pastures and settled there permanently. There is need to arise and press on to greater things ahead.
Ephesians 5: 14 says: “Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.”
