TOPIC: Not My Will, But Your Will
OPENING PRAYER: Grant me depth of insight, revelation and knowledge as I meditate on this passage, O Lord.

In today’s reading, Peter, rather than submitting to God’s will, was over-confident but in the flesh (vs.29&31). We may easily condemn Peter’s action. However, we are all prone to fall, especially when faced with danger of physical harm or death. In these days of constant threats and persecution of the followers of Christ, we must never rely on our wisdom or ability but learn to submit completely to God’s will for our safety and courage, being confident that He will keep us by His power (Zechariah 4:6).
What can we learn for Jesus in vs.35&36? We need to remember, however, that although God is all powerful and nothing is impossible with Him, He is not subject to our wants or desires. When we pray, especially, in times of difficulty, our will may not align with His sovereign will. See the example of Paul the Apostle in 2 Corinthians 12:8&9. Our God is sovereign. He answers our prayers but according to His perfect will and not always as we wish (Hebrews 5:7&8).

Dear Lord, help me in humility to accept and say, “Not my will, but your will be done” in all circumstances.

► The salvation we have in Him, the daily teaching and leading we receive at His feet.
► Making us His disciples who are committed to Him in all things.
PRAY FOR:
► Grace to let go all at the feet of the Master daily in total submission.
► Daily reliance on the Holy Spirit to continue to break, mould and make us look like Jesus.
► Humility as we allow the new life, new heart and Spirit we received at birth to continue to grow in Him.
PRAY AGAINST:
► Temptations and worldly passion that will make us deviate from God’s plan for our life.
► Allowing trials, sufferings, humiliation or loneliness to discourage us from the faith.
