SCRIPTURE: 2 Chronicles 22: 1‐12

Ahaziah, Jehoram’s youngest and only remaining son takes up the reign of power and leadership after his father’s painful death. Observe from vs.3‐5 who the greatest influence in his life, leadership and character was. What things did he do as a result of this council of advisors? From vs.7‐9, what is the sequence of events that finally lead to Ahaziah’s death?

We again see how rebellion and forsaking God’s ways lead to a sad end and how the company one keeps and the advisors with which one is surrounded influence the outcome of one’s life, actions and behaviour! God always has His agents and messengers who execute His will and purpose.

In the case of Ahaziah, the messenger of God was Jehu (vs.7‐9). V.10 highlights the way evil multiplies itself. Why would a mother destroy the whole royal family, thus leaving no one to take over from Ahaziah?

This can only be described as wickedness! Yet, in this self‐destruction, God’s mercy and salvation is demonstrated through Jehosheba’s action thus ensuring the continuation of the Davidic dynasty (vs.11‐12).

• Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?
• Is there any command for me to obey?
• Is there any warning for me to heed?

Practice/Word Application
So what? What type of record will you leave behind when your work on earth is done?

• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?
Closing Prayer
• Do you know leaders (religious, political or otherwise) who have surrounded themselves with the wrong advisers? Pray that the Lord will enable them to discern their error and make amends.

Offer a prayer of faith in line with Job 42:12

… I felt compelled to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to God’s holy people.

THANK GOD FOR:
☀ Raising devoted, trust worthy brethren lately who teach the word of God correctly and encourage others to do so.
☀ Exposing the unfruitful works of darkness in this end time.

PRAY FOR:
☛ Boldness among SU and other Ministries to hold the truth of our Lord Jesus Christ.
☛ God to raise more Bible-based leaders who will defend the faith, instead of letting wolves lead others astray.
☛ More Christians defenders of the faith among children, youths and even families to continue to stand up for the truth of Christianity.

PRAY AGAINST:
⚠ Sitting back and letting false teachings spread in our families, Churches and fellowships.
⚠ Against false teachings that deliberately target weak brethren and make them go astray from their faith.
