Be Still
by Vicky Munro

“Be still and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.” Psalm 46:10, NLT

Seeds of the Kingdom 16 November 2022 MESSAGE

Let me start by asking some questions: Can we “be still” in the midst of all that is going on in the world today? Can we “be still” despite difficulties in our lives?

Let’s look at the world. We have international conflicts, soaring energy costs, a huge rise in food costs, poverty levels rising, low wages, issues within governments, and much more. Now let’s think about our own personal lives. It could be financial issues, illnesses, family problems and lots more.

I looked up the Hebrew meaning of “Be still” and the Hebrew word is “rapha”, which means to be weak, to let go, to release and, I love this one, to relax! I spent some time pondering on this. I don’t know about you but I struggle to let go of the things of the world and to keep my mind on things that are above. God our Heavenly Father already knows everything that is going to happen and He is in control of it all, now that blows my mind a bit.

But it leads me to the questions: Can I let go? Can I trust God? Can I relax in him? Do I believe this truth? The bible tells us that we need not fear for God is our ever-present help in times of need.

“This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 NLT

So, again, I’m back to the questions: Can I be still? Can I let go? What about you? Do you have fears and anxieties? The Bible tells us to cast all our worries and anxieties onto God.

“Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.” 1 Peter 5:7 NLT

Wow, it’s so amazing that we can come to our Heavenly Father because He really does care about us! He is in control, and all we have to do is be still, and to let go, to relax! I once read this statement and it’s now up on my wall as a daily reminder, “LET GO AND LET GOD!” I encourage you to be still today and “let God.”

Seeds of the Kingdom 16 November 2022 PRAYER

Heavenly Father, I thank you that we can be still and that we can relax in you! Lord I ask you to help me to let go, and to be able to stand on your promises. Lord, where I am struggling, I ask that you help me and give me strength to let go. Your word is full of promises and today I choose to stand on them. In Jesus name, Amen.
