TOPIC: The Secret Enemy (2)

BIBLE READING: John 8-14

TEXT: “And he went through all the tribes of Israel unto Abel, and to Beth-maachah… and went also as after him. …and they cast up a bank against the city, … to throw it down. Then cried a wise woman out of the city, …thou seekest to destroy a city …why wilt thou swallow up the inheritance of the Lord? And Joab answered and said, … The matter is not so: but a man of mount Ephraim, Sheba the son of Bichri by name, hath lifted up his hand against the king, …deliver him only, and I will depart from the city. …” 2 Sam. 20 :14 – 21.

In the scenario of out text, an innocent city became a target for destruction because of a secret enemy who hid himself among them. He never considered the lives of the innocent people.

There are so many people today who are innocent, but are going through a general affliction because of an individual in their midst. So long Jonah was in the ship, the mariners continued to suffer losses until they discovered and threw Jonah out, and their tales of woe ended.

Many today, have Jonahs in their businesses, ministries, families, etc, hence it has continually been one story of misfortune to another.

Enemies are normal, but what is painful is the enemy that pretends to be a friend and that was what Sheba was. He didn’t announce that he came so that they would destroy the whole city; he didn’t say they were chasing him. He sneaked in like one of them.
When an enemy becomes a prayer partner, a chief bride’s maid, a counselor, a sibling, or one’s parent, how disastrous that would be. Their action may be caring and loving outwardly, but they are actually acts of betrayer and wickedness.

It is therefore time to arise and unmask and cast out every secret enemy around your life and all our interest and throw them out as they did to Sheba. 2 Sam. 20 :22. Their time is up as you pray.

PRAYER: My Father! My Father! Every secret enemy around my life, family and all my interest, as I begin to pray, I unmask you and throw you out.
