MFM Daily Devotional 3 October 2022 OUTLINE

All over the world, mankind is living in the most unfriendly and perilous of times. Terrorism, pestilence and plagues, food shortage, hunger and malnutrition, unemployment, poverty and inflation have made the world highly insecure and mankind an endangered species.

In the midst of these strange happenings and destruction of lives, many people have lost confidence and committed suicide. Some have turned to alcohol and drugs. Some others have turned to art, music and literature. Beloved, where do you turn for confidence when you are up against the wall?

As a believer, your attitude and approach to the issues and challenges of life are supposed to be Bible-based and God-led. We have a lot to learn and glean from the life of David, the man after God’s heart. The Fire Scripture for today as well as the memory verse attests to the fact that, on many occasions, David found himself in very dangerous and unpleasant situations. As he felt insecure, he turned to God for confidence. He reminded himself that God was on the throne (Psalm 11:4) and that God is His refuge and ever-present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).

The Bible says that the things that are written are for our learning. In the face of the COVID-19 pandemic and its attendant challenges turn to God and reassure yourself that He is on the throne and with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you. Also, as pestilences, hunger, killings and all manner of perils assail the world, let your reaction be as faith-filled and scriptural as David’s.

The Psalmist said, “…We will not fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea. Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof” (Psalm 46:2-3).

Dear reader, take a cue from David. Do not fear. It opens the door ofyour life to evil spirits and makes you insecure. Faith does the opposite. It strengthens God’s hedge of protection around you. So, stay in God and have faith in Him. He is your refuge and strength. In the midst of life’s insecurities, He is the greatest security!
