Scripture Union Daily Guide 23rd September 2022 Devotional for Friday

TOPIC: Shouts of Triumph

OPENING PRAYER: Help me dear Lord to meet with you as I meditate on your word in Jesus name

SCRIPTURE: Revelations 19:1‐10

Scripture Union Daily Guide 23rd September 2022 Message

Sometimes when evil seems to intensify and the church seems to find herself at the centre of it all, God appears to remain quiet. It seems to us that He is not doing anything about it. We need not fret, for God has His set time for action. Ultimately, He gives His church victory causing heaven to rejoice (vs.1‐2). There is jubilation and celebration that God and His saints have finally triumphed over evil.

Notice the various groups that shared in this rejoicing in vs.3‐5 and the different aspects of the victory as described in v.2. Why should the saints rejoice according to vs.6b‐7? The Bride of Christ is the Church for which He gave His life (Revelation 21:2 cf. Ephesians 5:30‐32).

His bride has made herself ready (v.7). How ready are we as the body of Christ and individual members for this wedding feast? Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear (v.8). No one can get there in just any attire. It is the clothes made clean by the blood of Jesus that will be welcome (Revelation 7:14). It is a gift for you to receive. Salvation cannot be achieved through works of self‐righteousness.

Question(s) for Reflection
• What does the passage teach about God the Father, or God the Son or God the Holy Spirit?
• Is there any warning for me to heed?

Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?
