TOPIC: The Sacrifice God Wants

OPENING PRAYER: Let me know more of you today dear Lord as I meditate on your word.

SCRIPTURE: Micah 6:1‐16

Scripture Union Daily Guide 11th September 2022 MESSAGE

Have you ever witnessed a court case before? Can you see a semblance of a court case in this passage? Notice how God brought His people, as it were, to court, to settle matters with them. Why do you think God called the witnesses in vs.1‐2 to witness His case against His people? Read vs.3‐5 again and reflect on the questions God asked His people. How do these apply to us?

Are we any better than the people of Judah? The people of Judah were engrossed in mere sacrifices as prescribed by the Law. But such sacrifices are meaningless if our hearts are not in tune with God (vs.6‐7). Instead of meaningless sacrifices, what is God’s expectation of us (v.8)? Observe the fearful judgment of God against Judah (vs.13‐16) and the reason for the judgment (vs.10‐12).

Religious activities without obedience to God’s commands are useless (1 Samuel 15:22). Through the sacrifice of Christ’s life, we have been made holy and escaped God’s coming judgment once for all (Hebrews 10:8‐14). All we are to do now is pursue Christlikeness in our daily walk with God, instead of meaningless religious rituals.

So what? Do you act with justice in dealing with people? Do you show mercy to others? Are you humble, like Christ our Master?

☀ Enabling us to keep faith, living by the standards of God’ s word.
☀ The Chairman Prof. Maduka, the head of the Admin/Field Staff Evangelist Chris Eke and their team working for the Lord in the Region.

PRAY FOR:
☛ Grace to continue to serve God with honour fulfilling God’ s expectation in the ministry of SU as they continue to enlarge their coasts.
☛ The five travelling secretaries in the Region that they will remain focused, diligent and bear fruits.
☛ The missionaries attached to the Region that God will keep on providing for their needs and protecting them and their families.

PRAY AGAINST:
⚠ The evil powers of masqueraders in the Region and the harmful traditional practices they are bringing up again.
