OPENING PRAYER: May my heart, O Lord, be receptive to your word as I meditate on it.

SCRIPTURE: Genesis 41:33‐45

One of the gifts of the Holy Spirit is ‘word of wisdom’. Read Proverbs 2:6‐7; 1 Corinthians 12:8. Yesterday we saw how Joseph graciously interpreted Pharaoh’s dreams and pointed him to God, the source of his wisdom (v.16). In today’s passage, we see another dimension of the hand of God upon Joseph (vs.33‐36).

God gave Joseph wise and discerning spirit (vs.33&39) with divine direction to proffer proactive measures to contain the impending famine pandemic. From the wise counsel he gave, Pharaoh recognised Joseph’s qualities at once (vs.37).

Thus, the transition from an imprisoned slave to being the Prime Minister of Egypt took place in a matter of minutes. Pharaoh saw something different in Joseph. See this in v.38 and notice the process of making him the Prime Minister in Egypt (vs.39‐43).

Unlike many of us who will discard competence and vote only for members of our own tribe, Pharaoh and the Egyptians accepted a non‐indigene to rule over them. Of course, he had to adapt to Egyptian culture by receiving an Egyptian name and having an Egyptian wife (v.45).

Before Joseph’s elevation, he patiently went through rejection by his brothers, the dark well, slavery and imprisonment – the cross that often precedes the crown.

☛ Grace to always walk in Godly wisdom in all we do.
☛ Deliberate analysis of all actions as we prayerfully face challenges each day.
☛ Intentionally getting involved in good works after our salvation as that is the father’ s wish for us His children.

PRAY AGAINST:
⚠ Careless acts, reactions and getting weary of doing good and not being faithful in every task given.
⚠ Failing to note that all workers whether good or bad will be judged at the end of our stay here on earth.
