SCRIPTURE: And they took it. – John 2:8, NKJV

Seeds Of The Kingdom 11 June 2022 MESSAGE

The story of the wedding feast at Cana is well known to many of us. The gospel of John records, ‘What Jesus did here in Cana of Galilee was the first of the signs through which he revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him’ (John 2:11).

As I read the account again in John 2, one sentence stood out to me, which I hadn’t really noticed before. Jesus tells the servants to fill six stone waterpots, and they fill them up to the brim with water. Jesus then tells them to draw some of it out to take to the master of the feast. But it was the next sentence in the story that caught my attention: ‘And they took it’.

No questions, no arguments, no “What on earth are you doing asking me to take water to the master of ceremonies. Don’t you know he could have me sold into slavery, or even worse, have me thrown into prison for giving him water?” It made me think of all the times I’ve been asked to do something, and I’ve questioned or complained or moaned that it was a stupid thing to do.

Why do I find it so hard to take the simple ‘water’ that Jesus is asking me to take and allow him to turn it into ‘wine’ – into the things He has planned and purposed? How often do I miss out on experiencing the miracle because logic and caution have replaced the adventure of faith and obedience?

Seeds Of The Kingdom 11 June 2022 PRAYER

Lord Jesus, thank You that I am a child of God, but help me to have a servant heart of obedience. Give me faith to step out into the things that seem impossible, knowing that You are always with me. Manifest Your glory through my obedience today, I pray. Amen.

She has been at Pierrepont since 2000 when she came on NETS during a sabbatical year from her work as an ecologist. At that time, she had been suffering from chronic pain in her arm joints for 6 years. Three weeks into NETS, God sovereignly healed her joints and took away the pain! She came on team at Pierrepont in January 2002.

Her first role was producing PowerPoint visuals from the hundreds of acetates that were in use, and she worked in various departments before becoming NETS Director in 2010. This has given her opportunities to go on Mission and to teach in many countries around the world and to see how God brings hope and healing in every way. Morna stepped into the role of Centre Director at Pierrepont in November 2020. Her favourite leisure pastime is watching wildlife and trying to improve her photography skills.
