After seeing the sordid behaviour of the men of Sodom, the angels disclosed their mission to Lot. With all the years he lived in Sodom, Lot had not influenced that many people to save the city from destruction. Even his daughters’ fianc?s did not take him seriously.
They thought he must be joking. Are we any better? On one hand, how effective a witness are we for Christ in our family, among friends and our neighbours? On the other hand, how seriously do we take God’s warnings in His word or through His messengers? Ponder over the extent of God’s mercy (vs.15–23). Why do you think Lot hesitated?
Sodom’s cup was finally full, and the time of mercy was over. The destruction was total (vs.24–25)! God cannot be mocked, and we must be warned that everyone (individuals or nations) will reap what they sow (see Galatians 6:7–8; cf. Jude 5–7). What happened to Sodom (vs.28b) is a glimpse of what will happen at the end of this age (see 2 Peter 3:7‐12; Jude 14–15).

PRAY FOR:
› The deliberate decision to always yield all at the altar of God daily.
› Grace to abide and walk in the wisdom of God.
› Godly strength that will make our walk and work for God steadfast and sure.
PRAY AGAINST:
∷ Using worldly standards and patterns in our walk and work for God.
∷ Failing to abide in Christ thereby bearing fruit that will not abide.
